Judy was born in her family home, November 7, 1947, in Cool Springs.

She is survived by her children, James(Debbie) Massey Jr., Patty Hansen, Pamela(Rodney)

Jackson, grandchildren, Gregory(Michelle) Wise, Walker(Julie) Hansen, Crystal(Matthew)

Steele, Caleb(Jordan) Wise, Nicolas Hansen, Cash Massey, Bailey Jackson, great grandchildren,

Ashtyn Shirley, Graham Wise, Marshall Wise, William Wise, and Jaxson Steele. She is also

survived by her very best friend and companion, Henry Bramlett.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Patrick Massey Sr., parents, Floyd and Myrtle

Horsley, Son-in-law, Jack Hansen.

Her passion for helping others was evident in everything she did, even when the weight of the

world felt heavy on her shoulders. She was hardworking, tirelessly striving to provide for her

family. Whether it was working a fulltime job or her countless acts of service at home, she gave

it her all. Every meal made, every lesson taught, and every moment shared encapsulate bountiful

examples of her dedication to our family. She was a caregiver in the truest sense. She dedicated

herself not only to her family but also to those in need. She spent countless hours sitting at the

bedside of sick relatives, offering comfort and companionship. Even in her struggles, she

remained a pillar of strength for us, teaching us resilience and the importance of empathy.

Judy loved to travel, with nowhere to be. Some of her fondest memories were hitting the road

with her late husband, Pat. It was not unusual for her children to not know where their children

may end up on the weekends, if left with Nana and Papa.

Her home was immaculate, a true testament of her creativity and talent. Beautifully filled with

treasures from all of her adventures and local auctions, she always seized the opportunity to show

off her “play pretties”. She made it seem effortless to transform untamed spaces into beautiful

landscapes. Her projects, meticulous in detail, were a reflection of her hardworking nature—she

never sat down, always busy with her hands, creating beauty where there was none. Her flower

gardens was a testament of her nurturing spirit, each bloom a reflection of the love she

had in her heart.

She was a remarkable woman, unyielding in her beliefs, and never hesitating to share her

opinions, often making us laugh with her candidness. Her humor was a light that brightened

many dark days, a reminder that laughter is sometimes the best medicine. She taught us the

importance of hard work and perseverance, showing us that the grass really is greener where you

water it.

In later years, though she tended to be more reclusive, she had a treasure trove of stories to share,

each one filled with life lessons that shaped who we all are today. It wasn’t just her talents and

interests that defined her; it was her spirit. She possessed a childlike wonder that made every

moment with her intriguing. Her strong-willed nature encouraged us to stand tall and speak our

minds. She challenged us to think differently, to embrace our own voices, and to never shy away

from a spirited debate.

She will be missed tremendously and thought of often.

Let us remember that in every sunset, every ocean view, and every mountain we climb, she is

with us, guiding us and cheering us on, with Papa by her side.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Cool Springs Missionary Baptist Church from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 beginning at 12:00PM at Cool Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
