I am so very sad to hear this.  Jane and I worked together for several years as savings and law clerks  at First national bank in Leeds. She was a Wonderful coworker and such a kind and compassionate person. I could not have had a better friend. Sending love to family and friends at this time.

On behalf of the entire Moody Middle School family, we would like to offer our deepest condolences to Mr. Barker and the Barker family. Mrs. Barker's presence will be deeply missed in our school. We were honored to work with her with our peace poster contest and vision screenings. Mrs. Barker had a passion for helping people and furthering the education of students. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Lion Past District Governor Jane Barker was instrumental in the development and growth of the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Moody. Through her untiring work, she and other volunteers provided useable eyeglasses to thousands of visually impaired citizens in Mexico each year. She was dedicated to providing service to many underserved in Moody and surrounding communities. Lion PDG Jane will be missed. God Bless.

CAMELOT-
It was the sixties, and I was a young tyke who found himself setting on a gym floor watching an ole black and white which was showing the nation the last mile of John Fitgerald Kennedy our president. I remember that horse-drawn caisson bearing his casket and following that I first saw this beautiful woman wearing a veil walking that long mile. She was holding her son little John with her left hand and Caroline with her right. The procession had reached its destination, and Jackie raised her veil and I fell in love! Her grief-ridden face had no tears as she stood strong for her precious children and a grieving nation. In that moment a broadcaster labeled that family as America’s family Camelot, our King & Queen.
It was only a few years later as a young Jr high student that I met another SCCHS couple who soon graduated and returned to their home Moody, but not before that lil tyke came to love them for their kindness and love to their fellow classmates.
Three decades have flown by (but who is counting). I was driving to work one morning listening to Rob and Shannon, freshly back from an appearance gig at something called “Miracle League” and on my way to work I felt a strong calling. Soon Rob & Shannon came to our office and shared their vision for Alabama’s own “Miracle”. They left that day and began to pitch their cause to all the bigger areas of town, and all turned them down. I will never forget the call when they told me we have someone in a place called Moody that wants to talk to us, and I was off the map excited. They not only met the mayor and council but also several groups. The very next day I got the call from R&S and said we told them about you and your company, and you will be getting a call. Within the hour the “Colonel” called me, two hours later I was brought into the fold.
The first organizational meeting the Lion’s club had a caucus there and I was surprised that “Vernon and Jane” were their leaders. I went home and shared with the family o
