Constance Riddle Myers Seymour of Moody, Alabama, a career educator in Saint Clair County was born April 25, 1969 and passed away after a courageous fight with cervical cancer on February 4, 2016, at the age of 46. Constance is survived by her two sons Evan Joseph and Tyne David Seymour, by mother and father, Connie and Janice Myers, her brothers McDaniel Coupland Myers (Melissa) and John Mathew Myers (Heather), a host of nieces, nephew and cousins, her dear aunts Nancy Myers, Rose Katherine Harding, and Grace McConnell. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John Belvie & Augusta Coupland Myers and by her maternal grandparents, John “J” Hugh and Lena McDaniel Riddle. She was also preceded by her uncles, Jerry & Larry Myers and her aunt Joan Myers. She graduated with honors from Saint Clair County High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in Elementary Education and graduated Cum Laude with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama.
She began her teaching career at Moody Elementary School then worked with inner city schools in Nashville, TN before moving back to Saint Clair County where she taught at Odenville Elementary School. She was named Assistant Principal of Odenville Intermediate School then named Principal. She was a driven educator who demanded excellence and was respected and loved by her students, teachers and staff. She took great pride in her teachers while always supporting and appreciating their drive to help their students to achieve their full potential. She viewed all her students as her children. She had a special gift of handing out correction when needed but always ended with a hug. She always strived to inspire and implore her students to reach higher while laying out her expectations and belief in them.
She was life- long member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She served on the Administrative Council and with the youth programs. Her love for people shined through in all of her relationships and had a gift of making everyone her friend.
Visitation will be held Monday February 8, 2016 from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Moody, Alabama. Funerals Services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Tuesday February 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm under the direction of Pastor Eddie Vann, following interment at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Odenville, Alabama.
The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Saint Clair County Education Foundation at P.O Box 119, Wattsville, AL. 35182 or the American Cancer Society.
