Billy E Lowe, age 74, of Leeds, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022. Billy was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 23, 1947 to Cousby Odell Lowe and Margie Juanita Robbins Lowe. He is retired as a Sergeant 1st Class from the Army National Guard having 28 years served, and retired from Anniston Army Depot after more than 30 years as a tank mechanic, inspector, and test driver. Billy is preceded in death by his daughter, Kendyl Dunn Lowe. Billy is survived by his wife of 55 years, JoAnne Marie Lowe; son, Chuck Lowe; daughters, Sonia Lowe and Kimberly Lowe Isbell.; brother, Barry Lowe; honorary brother, J.C. Blankenship; honorary sisters, Phyllis McDonald and Patsy Blankenship; grandchildren, Karianne Lowe (Jamie Coker), Shanna Watters, Janna and Reilly Acker, Abigail and Katherine Lowe; great-grandsons, Asher Michael Watters, and Hendrix Pinson. Visitation will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 1:00PM-2:00PM, with a brief service to be held at 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery, Irondale, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Children’s Hospital of Alabama, or to a wounded veterans organization of your choice. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the incredible, compassionate staff at Affinity Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Billy and the Lowe family during his illness, most notably to his nurse, Jonathan Sisson. Billy thoroughly enjoyed his visits from Jonathan where they would talk about everything under the sun and stars, and he came to regard Jonathan as a closely valued friend and a beloved family member. The family would also like to extend special gratitude to the Leeds Fire and Rescue Department for their warmhearted assistance during his last days.
