He was born in Botwood, Newfoundland on October 18, 1942. He married his sweetheart Rita Iris Woolridge on June 24, 1967. They were married for over 52 years. Together they raised three children, Elizabeth Sundin (Rodney Petrowsky), Kevin Woolridge (Kristy Neilson) and Kim Martin(Corey Martin). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Athena, Blake (Mallory), Thurston, Markus, Emry ( Miranda), Nathan, Zane and Mason. Great grandchildren Christian, Alyssa , Kayden, Kendra and Aubrey. Henry reunited with his daughter Cindy Pomeroy (Rob Pomeroy) and was blessed with four wonderful years. He gained three more grand children and two more great grandchildren. This reunion completed him and he was truly fulfilled. Henry leaves numerous brothers, sisters, aunties, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Henry completed training while working for Lasco in Ontario where he obtained his journeyman welder’s red seal certificate. He then moved his family to Regina Saskatchewan in 1975 where he worked for Ipsco for over 30 years before retiring. He welcomed many to his home over the years were meals, laughter, card games and storytelling was shared. Henry was generous and warm hearted. His humour was ever present and his company enjoyed by many friends. He was a wonderful grandfather whom would push his grand children around in a wheel barrel for fun, Get on the floor to play silly games, and reach into his pocket to surprise them with a chocolate bar that he professed he found on the side of the road.
Henry moved to Alberta in 2020 where made several more friends that will miss him dearly. Henry was predeceased by his wife Rita Woolridge, his parents Daisy and Alex Woolridge, several brothers and sisters, Granddaughter Faren and several close friends.
Celebration of Henry's Life will take place at 1:00 pm at the Denham Inn, 5207 - 50 Avenue, Leduc on Sunday August 28, 2022.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Alberta.
