Bernard John Wood

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard John Wood who died on Sunday, July 21st, 2013 after a lengthy and courageous battle. Bernie leaves to carry on his spirit his wife Karen Lickacz and sons David (Jeanne), Corey (Heather), Kyle, Darin and Stephen; grandsons Caelhan, William and a grandchild on the way; sister Loletta (Ivan Hrycak), brother Ken (Maxine), step-sister Kathleen (Roy Hodgson), sister in laws Sharon Lickacz, Wendy (Dan Sekora) and Godchild Lynette (Brad Johnson). Predeceased by father Frederick William Wood, mother Veronica (Gordon Rowland), sister Rosemary, step-brother Bud; father & mother in law Andrew & Anne Lickacz.

Bernie was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He was a consummate communicator and a strong advocate and sign language interpreter for the hearing impaired. He lived his life with the mantra, "Every Day is a Good Day!" Bernie’s family is grateful for and would like to thank all the exceptional staff at the Grey Nuns Palliative Care Station 43; especially Dr. Sarah Burton-McLeod, Dr. Amanda Brisebois and the Tea Room Volunteers.

Prayer Services are Friday, July 26th, 2013 at 7:00 pm at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 7007-109 Street, Edmonton. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at 11:00 am in Calmar at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Basilian Fathers Celebrants. (1 mile East of Calmar and two miles North of Hwy 39 on RR 265). Everyone is welcome.
