John Daka, 80, of Lebanon, passed away in Hershey Medical Center on Thursday, October 18, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia on June 25, 1943, a son of the late Kristo and Varvara (Bellani) Daka. Mr. Daka had been employed with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Deputy (1994- 1999); Crime Prevention/ Auto Theft Officer and Retired from Social Security Administration. John served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a Volunteer at the V.A. Hospital and Let No Vet Die Alone Group; U.S. Coast Guard “Westwind” Association Ice Breaker Crew Member 1961 – 1963 in Greenland Labrador Canada, North Atlantic Survellience; U. S. Coast Guard Cutter “Spencer” Gitmo Guantanamo , Cuba; Greater Antilles Crew Member ( 1963- 1965) and Navy Club, Lebanon. John recorded a record for Mercury Records (Phillips Label) in 1965. It was played all across the U.S. He was a Member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Lebanon. Surviving are his partner: Randall I. Miller Jr. of Campbelltown; brother: Charles Daka; sister: Mary Daka; nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brother: Spiro Daka; sisters: Ann Stephano, Lydia Avrami, Rita Wright and Helen Pugnetti. A Funeral Service will be held in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 6th and Chestnut St, Lebanon, PA, 17042 on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 10:00AM with a Visitation from 9:00AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville at 11:30AM with Full Military Honors.
