Jean L. (nee Krum) Gohn, age 91, passed away on January 21, 2023 at Cornwall Manor Retirement Community, Cornwall, PA. Jean was born in Lebanon, PA on June 9, 1931 the daughter of the late M.B. and C. Elsie (Evans) Krum. Jean was a proud 1949 graduate of Lebanon High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. She taught physical education in the York City School and Lebanon City School districts, introducing the physical education program to the Lebanon School District elementary schools. She was the first women elected to the Lebanon City School Board serving 12 years beginning in 1967 and holding the position of Board President. She was the first women appointed to the Lebanon County Housing and Redevelopment Authority serving for 22 years, holding the positon of Chairman for 14 of the years she served. Jean was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Lebanon, having served on numerous committees in the church over the years. Jean, with her husband Marlyn, served on the advisory committee of the Lebanon VISTAs program.
Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years Marlyn W. Gohn who was the love of her life, two daughters Amy Gohn (Greg) Anstine of Wrightsville, PA, and Emily Gohn (Frederick) Cieri of Wynnewood, PA. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Kara Anstine, Leo Cieri and Max Cieri. Jean also survived by a brother James R. Krum of Delaware. Lastly, she is survived by Dian Beamesderfer whose friendship spanned 8 decades and considers Dian’s children, Brooke, Leigh and Lyn, extended family.
Over the years the things that gave Jean the most joy were community service, flower arranging, cooking and travel but what defines her and Marlyn’s life is their joy for entertaining family and friends, so please join us one last time to celebrate the life of Jean at 11am on February 4, 2023 at the Timber’s Restaurant in Mount Gretna. Friends and family are welcome. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cornwall Manor Benevolent Fund.
