Nelson Duc Tran, 85, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2020 at the Avalon Memory Care Center in Cedar Park, Texas. Nelson was born in Quang Yen, Vietnam on October 8, 1934 to parents Nhuong Duc Tran and Tuong Thi Nguyen.
Nelson joined the South Vietnamese army at the age of 18 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel until the Fall of Saigon in April 1975. Nelson settled his family in Austin, Texas and started working for the State of Texas as a computer programmer, after 25 years of service with the State, he retired in Cedar Park, Texas. Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Nelson touched many lives throughout his journey in life and he will be missed dearly by all those whose lives he touched.
Nelson is survived by his wife Brenda Tran of Cedar Park, Texas. Nelson is also survived by his four children, their spouses and grandchildren: Lan Anh Tran-Miller, husband Dan Miller and grandchild Xavier Miller; Chuong Tran; My Tran, wife Sue Nguyen and grandchildren Austin Tran and Meghan Tran; Mary Ann Nguyen, husband Duy Nguyen and grandchildren Madeleine Nguyen and Philip Nguyen.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Leander, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Leander, Texas. A Reception will follow immediately after the funeral service. Graveside Services will be at 1:45 P.M. at Palm Valley Lutheran Cemetery, 2500 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, Texas 78655 in Pflugerville, Texas.
