James Patrick Burns, 71, of Leander, Texas, went to his heavenly home on Friday July 26, 2024. James, known to friends and family as Jim, was born on April 2, 1953 in Deer Lodge, Montana. He and his two older sisters enjoyed playing practical jokes and taking family vacations. He enjoyed his adolescence helping with the motel his parents owned in Missoula. He graduated in 1971 from Hellgate High School. He was an intensely proud Grizzly and Packer fan.
He married Mary in 1984 and they had their beloved son, Nathaniel in 1987. They shared a love of the Lord and the desire to travel to see as much of the Lord’s creation as possible. They moved a few times before making their home in Midland, Texas where Mary was an orchestra teacher and Jim worked security at Midland Memorial Hospital. After Jim retired, he relocated to Leander to be closer to his son and grandchildren. He found a community at Leander Station Senior Village.
Jim loved music and would serenade on the spot if prompted. He enjoyed singing hymns and praising the Lord, especially with his church families in Midland and Leander. He was so proud of his son, Nate, and his two grandkids. He enjoyed sports and writing to recruiters to help bring the best talent to his favorite teams. Jim enjoyed being a goofball and joking around whenever possible.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Robinson Burns, and his parents Elizabeth Ann Burns and Emmett James Burns. He is survived by his sisters, Judy and her husband Billy Andrews of Stevensville, Montana, and Linda and her husband Jim Ault of Missoula, Montana. He is also survived by his son Nathaniel Burns, daughter-in-law Kerini Burns, and grandchildren, Levi and Elizabeth Burns.
