Hieu T. Jamison lived an amazing life. She was a sweet and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who passed away on August 16th, 2024 at her home in Leander, Texas. She was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1938 and was the 9th daughter in a family with 11 siblings. In her young adult life she worked as a seamstress in a French clothing factory with her friend Xuan and was a diligent worker, often working double shifts to help her family with expenses. In 1971, she married Clifford R. Jamison (a US Army Service member) during the Vietnam war and was able to move to the United States - over 8,000 miles away from her home country.
Here in the U.S., Hieu was a dedicated military wife. She saw her family through frequent moves both during her husband’s active military service and after his retirement. In over a dozen moves she lived in Hawaii, Washington State, Florida, Oklahoma, and the great state of Texas, where she lived most of her life (including the Panhandle, Coastal Bend & Central Texas Hill Country).
She cared for her family as an impassioned homemaker and helped raise two lively sons. Every night she cooked a homemade meal that was like a global cuisine buffet. Naturally she was an expert at many delicious Asian dishes; but she also taught herself how to make a variety of other cuisines including American, Italian, and Hawaiian. She treated her boys to homemade cookies, cakes, and baked goods regularly. She loved feeding her family well! She also took joy in using her seamstress skills to clothe the family in style and decorate the house. She would make custom shirts for herself and her husband, matching shirt and short outfits & pajamas for her boys, and loved making pillows, blankets and quilts for the house.
In her later years Hieu loved gardening and doing puzzles & playing games with her grandkids. Uno and Spot-it were her favorites.
The following Bible verses from Proverbs 31:10-14 aptly describe how Hieu lived her life:
Who can find a wife of noble character? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
Hieu’s family is eternally grateful for her life’s work in caring for them well and blessing them always. We love her and honor her forever more.
Hieu is survived by her two sons and their families:
Son Dan Jamison and his wife Dianne, with Dan’s children Kiirsti and Erik Jamison, as well as Dan’s stepchildren Rebecca, Evan and Emma with their respective 5 children.
Son Jamie (Cliff R. Jamison II) and his wife Diana, with their daughters Eva, Vivian and Emmeline Jamison.
Hieu Jamison is buried at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas at the National Cemetery with her beloved husband Clifford R. Jamison.
