Mary Ellen Wells

Mary Ellen Wells, age 95, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27th, 2024 at her residence in Lawrenceburg. She was born on June 24th, 1928 in Minor Hill, TN, to the late Bud and Jennie Griffin. She was a retired dental assistant who worked for Dr. Charles “Bud” Lanning for the majority of her working career. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, completing crossword puzzles, listening to music, and spending time with her loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James. D. Wells; sister, Margaret Campbell; brothers, Bill Griffin, Sam Griffin, and Buford Griffin.

She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Rowland (Bobby); grandchildren, Rayanna Rowland and Reilly Overstreet (Josh); great grandchildren, Sullivan Overstreet, Hatcher Overstreet, and Myles Overstreet; sister, Bettye Hobbs; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Emily Fife.

Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on Friday, May 31st, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Brother Reggie Coleman will be officiating.

Interment will be held at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens.
