Visitation will be on Friday, March, 17th 2017 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 18th, 2017 at 11 am at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, TN with Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. Burial will be in Freemon Cemetery, Big Oak Road.
Born in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Ester (Curtis) Copeland. Preceded in death by one sister, Inez Davidson; one niece, Pamila Thornton; one nephew, Terry Davidson and one great nephew Tracy Thornton.
Survived by great-nephews: Patrick Thornton (Rachel), Charles Thornton (Donna), and Nick Gwen; great nieces Monica Sandaran (Manuel), Taria Watts, Honey Roberts (Tandy), and 4 great-great-nephews, 3 great-great-nieces, 1 great-great-great-niece, 1 great-great-great-nephew and many cousins.
Longtime Member of Craft United Methodist Church, Civitan Club and Honorary Member of Woodmen of the World. Even though Jean was in a wheelchair most of her life she graduated from Giles County High School in 1953, attending Columbia Business College a few years later. She was able to work at City Hall doing vacation relief and extra typing. She also did answering service for IBM and was a secretary at Barnes Heating Service. Jean advanced from cashier at the Goodwill Store to Assistant Manager and then became a receptionist with Advanced Medical Supply.
Jean will be remembered for feeding the birds, stray cats, and dogs. She had many special friends whom she loved and was loved in return: Robin Johnson and family, Bill and Jodi Woods, Mildred Carroll, Bobby and Edith Stephenson, Lorraine Paul, Frank Jones, Jane and Ed Griffis, Barbara Johnston, Barbara Frierson, Dwayne Clayton, Dot and George Horne and Mike and Amanda Simmons just to name a few.
