Celebration of the life of Zenaida Ramírez Ruacho de Martínez. She was born on June 5, 1931, at the Metates ranch, Municipality of Tepehuanes, Durango. And she passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in the City of Henderson, Nevada. She had a happy childhood with her parents Bertoldo Ramírez Guerrero and Ricarda Ruacho Chávez, and her siblings Gaspar, Raquel, Juan, Bertoldo, Rubén, Rafael, Vicente, Arturo, Mario, Amado, and Jaime. She lived her childhood between Rancho Metates and Hacienda “El Verano” where She frequented her beloved grandmother Inés Chávez Acuña.
She grew up with very little education, but her Mother Ricarda who transmitted to her poetry, oratory and not only school education, but also rules of civility and knowing how to treat others. She had many skills, such as sewing, embroidery, etc. As a young girl she met the handsome young man Rafael Martínez Gamboa and from there they fell in love and began to treat each other. The day came when they decided to unite their lives. Her parents were so happy with Zenaida for having chosen a very good candidate! People always commented that Mr. Rafael had taken the most beautiful flower on the planet!
From there they emigrated to Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas. She, with all the pain in her heart, next to her beloved husband, left for the unknown since neither had ever left the ranch. They arrived at a place of semi-arid lands where there were mesquite trees and they had to uproot them to convert them into seasonal irrigated agricultural lands where they built, with pick and shovel, canals, and irrigation gates. She did not see her family again until 4 years later, Gustavo and Erasmo had already been born, where eventually her brothers Rubén, then her brother Juan, then her brother Arturo and her parents Bertoldo and Ricarda went to visit them.
They put down roots in that part of the Northwest of Tamaulipas, where they later had Víctor, Gilberto, Arturo, Jesús Roberto, Eduardo, and Mayra Patricia.
At age 39 she converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Where she exercised it with strong faith, since there were so many adversities at the time and in the region for doing so, where she became a pioneer for her diligence and participation of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
That Faith deepened her love and service to God, to Our Lord Jesus Christ, to her husband, to her children, to family and friends and for that and much more, she became highly appreciated by everyone. In the church she also learned to canned fruits and vegetables so that in wintertime there would never be a lack of food on the table. Mmm! What rich memories of her cooking, delicious enchiladas, her tasty capirotada, chicken meatballs, gorditas de masa, whole grain baked cemitas and her famous and unmatched corn bread, etc. Her culinary art was very extensive, most of those recipes were from her mother Ricarda.
What a hard-working woman, she drew water from the water well, she washed clothes by hand. Noble and loving lady. She sacrificed everything for her children, she inherited her children them through her example, the love to serve others, principles and values, the love for the gospel, .the faith, to never complain and to never give up.
She was already ready to leave for heaven, since we had promised her that we would take care of her princess that she loved so much, her daughter Mayra Patricia and it was the biggest concern she had here on earth. She had said goodbye to her brothers Rubén and Jaime, then she waited for Gustavo to say goodbye to him. Upon learning that Gilberto and her granddaughter Mayrita could come, she extended her stay until they arrived. When she saw them, she was still conscious and joyful. He received them applauding, smiling despite her sufferings. We felt like she was just waiting for them! 10 hours after their arrival, she left for heaven!
She died where she wanted, in her home! It was Holy Thursday when we said goodbye. You can say she had a peaceful death!!! Rest in peace Zenaidita!!!
