Willie Joe Wallace was born December 4, 1931, to the late A.Y. Wallace and Elnora Wallace in Waco, Texas. He moved with his parents to California and grew up in West Contra Costa County. Willie Joe preferred to be called Joe. Joe joined the U.S. Army where he served honorably for more than twenty years. After retiring from the U.S. Military, Joe continued his civil service career with the state of Nevada Correctional Department, and City of Nevada.
Joe enjoyed traveling, fishing, and hunting. He believed in staying in touch with his family far and near, while often visiting with family during his travels. Joe was the Patriarch of the Family and the Family Historian. He was often called upon to share his vast knowledge of the family tree and legacy.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, A.Y. & Elnora Wallace; two sons, Willie Joe Wallace Jr. & Jeffrey Wallace; his sister Opal Davis; and three brothers, A.Y. Wallace Jr., Jimmie Wallace, and Aeron Wallace.
Joe leaves to carry on his legacy his children; Jerry Wallace, Sarah Wallace - Cummings (Isaiah “Ike” Cummings) Darryl Wallace and Raynard Wallace; two sisters, Sandra Givens & Helen Howard; also, one brother Michael Anderson Sr.; ten Grandchildren; seven Great- Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and loved ones who he loved dearly.
