William (Bill) Katz passed 2-21-2023 at the PAM Long Term Care Center. He was born November 1, 1952 in Los Angeles, California to Dr. Albert and Audrey Katz. Bill lost his battle with heart failure but bravely fought for 41 days.
Bill was a United States Marine who served during the Vietnam era and graduated from University of Nevada at Las Vegas with a degree in Hotel Administration. Bill loved the complexities of managing Banquets at The Flamingo Hilton in Laughlin, Nevada and would regale family and friends of stories of the different types of banquets he set up. In a shift of careers to enable him to spend time with his family, Bill became a locksmith and owned his own Locksmith Company – Kwik Key Lock Company for 5 years. Bill then worked as a locksmith with The Texas Station until his retirement.
Bill loved his family and friends with a fierce devotion. Bill loved riding his Harley Davidson Trike, cooking for family and friends, reading and watching Science Fiction and Westerns. Bill loved to travel nationally and internationally and visited Italy, Prague, Germany, Mexico and Canada towards the end of his life. A long term dream of Bills was to go to Mardi Gras which was realized in 2022.
Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years Denise, his first born son Shaun, wife Jackie and granddaughters, Alissa Katz, Jasmine Katz, Leah Katz, Melody Katz and Aurora Katz and by son Robert Katz and son Micheal Katz with his fiancée Rebecca Ward of Texas. Bill is also survived by Grandson Landon Katz of Las Vegas, NV. Bill is survived by his brother, Dr. James Katz and his wife, Gail Brewer-Katz with nephew Jeremy Katz and niece Natalie Katz-Sela and husband Tal Sela. Bill is also survived by his Sisters in Law, Colleen Norris of Las Vegas, NV, Traci Norris of California, Terri Marceau and her husband Travis Marceau, nephews Quaid Marceau of Las Vegas, Travis Marceau of Las Vegas and niece Katie Marceau and her children Sophie and Cameron of Las Vegas, NV.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made the Diabetes Foundation.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, February 27, 2023 at Palm Downtown Mortuary at 1325 N. Main Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Burial will be held at 1:00pm at Palm Downtown Cemetery.
