"Mike" Hattery, 72, of Las Vegas, passed away April 9, 2010. He was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Dayton, Ohio. Mike moved to San Bernardino, Calif., from Dayton as a child and attended Holy Rosary Parochial School. He went on to attend Neuman Catholic High School, where his height of 6'3" made him a valued member of the football team. After graduation from the University of California at Riverside with a B.A. in political science, he married Mary Jean Burke. They were married for 51 years. They resided in San Bernardino, for a number of years before moving to Las Vegas in 1979. Mike worked for GMAC for 36 years and another 10 years for the Las Vegas Findlay Corporation. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed all sports, but especially loved football. He will be remembered for his ability to make everyone laugh, his appreciation for home cooking and his fondness for GM cars. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Waldo Emerson Hattery Sr.; and mother, Grace Gilliland. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Hattery; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Dale Stevens; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Moore; son, Thomas Hattery; and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emma Moore. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 12, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89128-2701, (702) 228-8311.
