Wayne L. Crist, 71, of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 23, 2011. He was born Oct. 5, 1939, in Los Angeles, and was a 49-year resident of Nevada. He joined the Navy at age 17, received an honorable discharge, and moved to Nevada in 1962. That same year, he joined the Clark County Sheriff's Department, and served on the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (Badge #206) for 20 years. He received commendations (including the Medal of Valor) and distinctions for outstanding service and going above the call of duty. After retiring from the police force, Wayne was the chief of investigations for several major Las Vegas hotels. He was a vital member of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for 10 years, playing an active role in returning numerous children to their homes. Wayne is survived by his wife, of 32 years, Pauline Crist; and son, Jonathan Crist. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
