

Veletia, 88, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Lorenzo DeMarco and Minnie Schoenfelt DeMarco. Veletia was a graduate of East High School in 1954, a member of Immaculate Conception Church, an advisor of the Coitsville Saddle-ites 4-H club, a member of the Youngstown Symphony Chorus and Youngstown All Breed Dog Training Club, and was employed at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing.
She and her husband then relocated in 1980 to Las Vegas, NV with their two youngest children, where she was employed as an administrative assistant for EG&G/Bechtel until she retired. After retirement she volunteered at Valley Hospital and the Senior Tripsters travel club. She was also a member of the Italian Catholic Federation.
She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Speziale Sr, daughter Valerie Speziale, daughter Lori Speziale McClone, sisters Mildred Fossessca, Bernice Popa, June Belfast, and brother Larry DeMarco.
Vee is survived by son John J. Speziale Jr. of Lowellville, OH; daughters Lynn Mate (Victor Valdovinos) of Las Vegas, NV; Sherri Speziale (Jennifer Biechele) of Brentwood, TN; and Julie Williams of Caddo Mills, TX; sister Sandra (Rick) Evans of Diamond, OH; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Vee enjoyed bowling, dancing, boating, and fishing with her late husband (John J. Speziale, Sr). She also enjoyed reading, traveling, cruising, wine tasting (during which she earned the nickname “Sister Merlot”), watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, and especially loved traveling to spend time with family and friends. As she traveled the world she saw the Holy Land in Jerusalem, The Great Wall of China, Ellis Island, the Panama Canal, and her father’s home town in Sorrento, Italy to name a few. She lived her life to the fullest.
A visitation for Veletia will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 6350 N Fort Apache Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89149. A committal service will occur Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer Research Foundation or American Cancer Society.
