Valencia was a truly blessed child. She was born with congenital heart disease and underwent surgery at UCLA Medical Center in California to close a hole in her heart, shortly after her 1st birthday.
She had been recovering from the surgery, learning to talk and walk, and enjoying life with her family. Two years later, December 1990, MeMe became ill and had to be hospitalized for pneumonia, due to an infection contracted meningitis and fell into a coma. The specialists didn’t think she could survive the meningitis and gave her a short time to live and decided the best option would be to pull the plug, BUT GOD!!!! MeMe had a praying great grandmother, Gladys Smith, who informed the specialist that she knew THEE SPECIALIST. Gladys Smith, a Great Woman of God, Evangelist and Prayer Warrior laid before the Lord and petitioned Him for Valencia’s life. MeMe woke up from that coma hours later February 10th 1991. God heard the prayers of the righteous and honored their request. The specialist then said MeMe wouldn’t live past 3 years of age; but God had the final say and MeMe lived 25 more years. HALLELUJAH !!!!
December 28th, Valencia became ill and was rushed to the hospital and was revived several times, understanding and recognizing MeMe was fighting the fight for her mama and grand mama, we talked to MeMe and let her know we loved her too much to continue to ask her to fight. We all agreed and let MeMe know we’d take care of her mama and grand mama, stop fighting and just rest in the arms of Jesus. MeMe understood and the Lord ushered her into Heaven to her heavenly body, a whole body, no more pain, no more suffering, because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
