Todd Douglas Cory, a devoted husband, father, and son, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2024, at the age of 50. He was born on February 14, 1974, to Ronald and Elaine Cory in Eugene, OR, and was cherished by his big brother, Scott Cory.
Todd and his family moved to Las Vegas in 1985. The little blonde-headed boy was full of energy, enjoyed playing sports including basketball and soccer, was an animal lover to the dogs and cats he grew up with, and a loving son. He graduated from Valley High School in 1992, continued his education at Dixie College earning an associate of science degree in 1999, and then attended Northern Arizona University majoring in Construction Management in 2002. After graduating, he began a career as a project engineer where he worked for a few construction companies, McCarthy and Penta to name a couple, over the next eight years.
In 2005, Todd met his “dream wife” (as he would always say), Shawna Williams and they instantly fell in love with each other and at the same time were blessed with his first daughter, Julia Baker. They married in 2006 and together they built a family and a home that was a haven of love, laughter, respect, and loyalty. In 2007, they welcomed their second daughter, Kaitlyn Cory.
Throughout his lifetime since the age of 3 years old, he was the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan. Some of his most exhilarating and favorite trips were attending the home games at the AT&T Stadium. His smile, loud cheers, and victory dances at every touchdown brought life to any game and portrayed his passion for football.
In 2010, Todd was given the opportunity to work as a manager at his family’s business, Just Play, a video poker lounge in Las Vegas where lasting friendships with his employees and customers flourished over the following 14 years. Anyone who had the privilege to call Todd their friend knew how genuine, caring, open-minded, and truly an amazing man who would do anything for both his friends and family.
Todd had lost his best friend, his brother, Scott, in 1998 which forever changed his life. Knowing the two of them are now together again, gives us much peace here on earth that Todd was welcomed by his brother, is no longer suffering with back pain, and forever will be our guardian angel.
A service to celebrate Todd’s life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the Canyon Ridge Chapel, located at 6200 W Lone Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89130. All family and friends are welcome to celebrate Todd’s life, share stories, and keep his memory alive.
