Thomas James Tomczak Jr.

Thomas James Tomczak, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV passed away on July 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends. His battle with cancer for almost 20 years is a testament to his tenacity and his desire to live on this earth and touch the lives of so many people. His selfless manner and welcoming heart are the traits that all of those who knew him will always cherish about him.

Tom was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in that city’s south suburbs. He was on the gymnastics team at Richton Park South High School. Tom’s many interests included the Disney, Star Wars, and Star Trek franchises. His passionate hobby was raising and growing salt-water corals. Tom was an avid Xbox gamer and played guitar. He was also a fan of the Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey team. Tom would always look forward to an annual trip to the New Jersey shore to visit his close friends, Tywone “Ty” Chess Schick and his husband, Michael “Micky” Schick.

He is survived by his loving husband and soulmate, Kevin E. Acosta of Las Vegas, NV. They married on December 18, 2015, and have been together since meeting in Illinois in March 1996.

Other survivors include his father Thomas J. Tomczak, Sr. and his wife Lauri Tomczak, his brother Jeff Regan-Tomczak and his husband, Tommy Regan-Tomczak. Sisters-in-Law are Maria Acosta and Josefina Acosta-Knight. He is also survived by his beloved Labrador Retriever, Count Dooku.

His stepchildren are Christopher A. Acosta (Jessica Cervantes), Adam M. Acosta (Kat Acosta), Jessica M. Acosta, and Brandon S. Acosta.

Thomas is preceded in death by his mother, Michelle “Micky” (Shannon) Tomczak and his brother-in-law, Salvador G. Acosta.

A private family event was held at their home for friends and family. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
