Thomas P. Marth

Tom was born on January 31, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Anthony and Mary Marth.

Tom started playing banjo at the age of 12 and quickly fell in love with music. He joined a polka band with Kenny Kotwitz when he was 14 and they appeared on the Lawrence Welk show a year later. Shortly after, Kenny suggested Tom pick up guitar and play in a jazz ensemble with him, and thus was the beginning of Tom's jazz career. He moved to Las Vegas in 1965 and played with artists such as Martha Raye, Ray Anthony, Doc Severinsen, Peggy Lee, Patty Page, Liza Minnelli, Julie Andrews, Barbara Streisand, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. to name a few. He also played guitar in Las Vegas productions of Hair and Sweet Charity. His accomplishments led him to be featured in a 1967 issue of Guitar Player Magazine about prominent Las Vegas Guitar players. He later played with the world famous Follies Bergere and later collaborated for years with the Scintas.

In between musical gigs, Tom pursued Real Estate, Financial planning, and carpentry to support his family. He was a true Renaissance Man who was also an incredible painter, photographer, and cook.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Tommy Marth.

He is survived by his brother, Richard Marth; sons Anthony, Todd, and Ryan Marth; daughters Lisa and Melissa Marth; and grandchildren Dayton and Alyssia Marth.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Palm Eastern Mortuary; interment will directly follow.
