In loving memory of longtime resident Steven, AKA Stepher, Potter, 63, who passed away June 26, 2023, after a three-month hospitalization, in Las Vegas, NV, following major surgery related to Crohn's disease which Steven managed his entire life.
He was known to his family, many friends, and coworkers as a determined, committed professional who took great pride in the work he did, spending many extra hours to ensure quality production and work product.
Steven enjoyed exploring all parts of Las Vegas, often taking long drives all over the city with his best friend and cousin Lisa Murphy and their good friend Larry Mason.
Steven was born on October 11th, 1959, to Mary Marken and Warren Potter in Grundy Center, Iowa.
Steven Lee Potter enjoyed his long career in marketing, marketing research, and conference trade show management where he specialized in healthcare and consumer product analysis.
Steven took care with his appearance and clothing following his favorite Auntie, Velma Jean (Jeannie) Marken Wilcox’s lead. Steven took up his Auntie’s habit of always having neatly pressed attire and always ironed all manner of clothing, jeans, T-shirts, shirts, and would clearly remind others of the importance of the Art of Ironing.
Working in both San Diego, CA and Las Vegas, NV, Steven met many long-term friends with whom he enjoyed discussing politics, both local and national, and sporting events.
Steven left this world on the same day as his beloved brother David Potter who spent the last many years caring for their parents, Warren (96) and Mary (95), in Rochester, Minnesota. In addition to his parents, Mary Marken Potter and Warren Potter, Steven is survived by his older brother John Potter, his wife Shelly and their children and grandchildren, his cousins Lisa Murphy, Julie Wilcox, Todd Marken, Mark Marken, Marlana Marken, and Marcee Marken.
Steven’s witty sense of humor and fun-loving nature will be missed by many, especially during family gatherings, special celebrations, holidays, and sporting events.
A celebration of life will be held in October in Las Vegas, Nevada. Details can be requested at [email protected].
A remembrance for both Steven Potter and David Potter will be live streamed on YouTube First Presbyterian Rochester, MN at 1:00 Central Time on August 12, 2023, and may be viewed any time after this date.
Steven supported The Center in Las Vegas and The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the Potter family.
