Shirley Louise Wallace of Lake Elsinore, CA, formerly of Victorville, CA, embraced life to the fullest during her 87 years on this earth. She passed away on February 17, 2024, leaving behind an incredible legacy of family and love. Born on December 7, 1936, in Arlington, Massachusetts, to George and Florence Haigh, Shirley was the next to the youngest of 8 children. She was raised in Arlington and Lexington, MA, and graduated from Lexington High School.
She is now reunited in Heaven with her husband of 45 years, Morgan, who she met and married in 1958. She is also reunited with her parents, brothers George Jr. (MIA in the Korean War), Wallace, Robert, Herbert, her sister Barbara Frank, their spouses, and many other family members.
A beacon of love and compassion, Shirley's memory will be forever cherished by her large family, including seven devoted children: Russell, Morgan, Sheri, Robert, James, Peggy, and Christopher, along with their spouses and significant others, dozens of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Dora Carr and Florence Parker.
While raising her children, Shirley was very involved in her children's education, an active participant in the PTA, their sports teams and other extracurricular activities, and was “Team Mom” many times. She welcomed all of her children’s friends into her home, and was quite often the neighborhood mom. With her nurturing spirit, she also cared for nieces and nephews just as she did her own children, and provided a home to some of them when they were young adults.
She was a self-made, successful business woman, being one-half of Wallace Masonry of Covina, CA, and Just Me Cleaning Services/Shirley’s Cleaning Service of Henderson, NV.
Of the many activities that Shirley enjoyed, she treasured the ones spent with family and friends the most. Weddings and holidays were particularly special to her. Her love of music, dancing, and conversation was evident whenever her family was around her, as well as her overall feeling of being blessed. She had a great laugh, radiated joy and created cherished memories for herself and those around her. And she was definitely adventuresome! She was socially active, and a member of the Victorville Vivacious Red Hot Mama’s (Red Hat) group for several years.
Shirley had many creative talents. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, all types of needlepoint, sewing, and crafting handmade gifts. Over many years, she created and gifted afghans, baby blankets, sweaters, embroidered works of art and other artistic items, each item typically made specifically for someone special to her, or a charity that meant a lot to her. A lover of nature and gardening, Shirley had a green thumb and was able to grow flowers, fruit trees and the roses that she loved so much, even in the desert.
Shirley's faith was a cornerstone of her life, evident in her dedicated involvement at Calvary Chapel Victorville since 2004, where she was an active member, involved with Widow’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and also served as a Greeter. She was also an active participant many times at Crossroads Experience, where she served others while attending the Christian weekend learning experiences.
Family, friends and members of her community are invited to honor Shirley's life and legacy at:
Palm Eastern Mortuary and Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada 89123, with Visitation scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed directly by her committal and interment.
As we bid farewell to her, we hold onto the memories of her vibrant spirit, her boundless energy and love, and the lasting impact she made in the hearts of many. May she find eternal peace in Heaven.
