Sherry was my Home Ec teacher in high school and the reason I became a Home Ec teacher. We kept in touch for many years but lost touch when she moved from the area. I will always cherish all the times we had together and all the help and encouragement she gave me when I first started teaching.   

Sherry was one of the liveliest, friendliest people we've ever had the joy and honor of knowing.   She had a personality that filled a room and her warmth and friendship will be forever missed.  Rest in peace. 

Sherry was the ultimate teacher. My all time favorite. I had her for Home Ec a couple of years at Northview High. She really knew how to motivate her students and kept us all captivated. I don't know of one student that didn't love her. She made us feel like equals and made it a joy to  come to class.  She taught us much more than one normally learns in a classroom and she made us feel we could accomplish anything we set our minds on. I remember her zest for life and her smile.  One memory I have is of her returning from a vacation and bringing every one of her students (and there were a great many), a necklace made of apple seeds. I mean, who does that?  She was a very special soul. I often thought about her over the years, wondering what her life was like now and I am so happy to hear of all she achieved in her lifetime.  She truly was an angel on earth and will always have a special place in my heart.  Rest in peace beautiful lady. You will be missed by all that  were blessed to be even a small part of your life. My sincere condolences to her loved ones.   Your loss is great.  


Some of my favorite memories in high school were having Miss Marmis as a teacher.
 Whenever talk about my high school days, I often thought back to taking classes with her is our instructor. She was funny and engaging and made me want to be a better student. I hope she knew what a big difference she made in my life and so many others.   Rest in paradise.

I remember dear Sherry as Miss Marmis at Northview High School, about 1976.  She was a very good teacher. I especially enjoyed having her for World History during summer school!  She was kind, and funny, too!  I’m sorry to learn of her passing, but I’m glad she had a full life... but it was too short!

I am so sorry to hear of Sherry's passing.  I met her Sept 1970 when I was a scared freshman at Northview H. S.  Years later she told me I was from her first full year at NVHS.  I had her all 4 yrs including being her aide my senior yr.  She was a wonderful role model.  I know she would be thrilled to know I have returned to sewing and making quilts.  Heaven has received an ANGEL.

I had Miss Marmis for Home Economics at Northview High School. She was my favorite teacher. Sherry was the sweetest lady and treated all of us students equally.  She helped teach me how to sew and cook. I sewed all of my children's clothing, in their younger years. Thank you Miss Marmis for being a true mentor, in my life. Rest in Jesus arms, now. Lord be with her family and loved ones, my prayers and condolences. She will be truly missed.

Sherry and I had a history that goes back 48 years. We have been friends ever since. We first met when I was first out of school. She was there for me when I needed a friend and a shoulder to cry on.

What could have been a beautiful life together didn't happen but we remained friends through the years. I think she was my guardian angel. We would go for long periods of time with out seeing each other and all of a sudden, when my life at at a low, she would appear.

It was no coincidence that moving to Los Vegas, would trigger a meeting of the two of us. I miss running into Sherry at the supermarket.

I will miss my sweet guardian angel. May you rest in peace!

Sherry was one of the most positive people I have ever met.  She and Jerry were extremely welcoming from the first minute we met them.  It is a great loss to us and to many others to not have more time with her.

It made my heart happy to know that Sherry had Jerry and so many wonderful people right there in her neighborhood taking care of her and showing her so much love. 

I had no intention of writing so much, but it is a strange time in history where we aren't able to gather as freely as we once could to mourn the loss of our loved ones. With so many thoughts about this amazing lady, it's nice to be able to share them with the people who knew her and loved her.

Sherry was my "home ec" teacher in high school, which always brought her endless amusement since her favorite thing to make for dinner was reservations! Sherry was a funny lady and I loved her dearly. I am so sad to lose her, but I am especially sad for Jerry's loss.

Our chance meeting at Northview High School would lead to a decades-long friendship. While attending college, I worked at Sherry and Jerry's real estate office. At one point, my sister and I were here "little elves" (kitchen helpers) for a company Christmas party at her home. My sister, a high school student at the time, whipped up a batch of margaritas and the party guests went NUTS over them! It was hilarious and something that could never happen nowadays. Sherry never forgot that story and brought it up often. She referred to my sister as "a hoot" and was correct about that! What a fun memory...

Sherry always asked about my family - from my folks to my husband and kids and everyone in between. She was very thoughtful like that, but our visits were never complete until I updated her on my cats. Sherry LOVED her cats! We kept in touch over the years, then ended up moving to the Las Vegas area around the same time. It was such a happy coincidence! She would always give me the scoop on our favorite high school teachers and tell me about her travel adventures with Jerry. Those two wrote the playbook on living out your retirement dreams! Friends, clubs, travel, groups, golf, red hats, travel, hiking, dinners, outings... and did I mention travel?! Sherry and Jerry were so much fun!

I could always count on Sherry. It's really sinking in right now thinking about how grateful I am for that blessing, but I am so incredibly sad to lose her supportive presence in my life. Even after my family and I moved back to California, she was always just a phone call away. She told me that Jerry was the best caretaker ever. She also told me about her wonderful friends in Sun City Anthem.

My husband Don and I are saddened by Sherry's passing. Sherry always had a smile on her face and will be truly missed by all her friends in our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her husband and family.
