Robert David Lewis

During his youth, Robert spent much of his time outdoors with his family and enjoyed hunting in the wetlands of the Great Salt Lake, skiing next to the family cabin in Brighton, and fishing on his parents’ pontoon boat on Lake Powell. After falling from a tree and breaking his arm at the age of six, Robert knew he wanted to be a doctor. He pursued his dream, earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Utah in 1968.

Robert made the bold decision to leave his hometown and move across the country to participate in a residency program at world renowned Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. It was meant to be, as he met the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Pamela.

Robert completed his military service in Fort Devens, Massachusetts. With the rank of major, he provided medical care to soldiers returning from Vietnam. After his service, Robert returned to Illinois, where he was on the surgical staff at several hospitals for over 25 years. He also established his own medical practice specializing in occupational healthcare. After moving to Las Vegas, he continued his medical career at Concentra Occupational Group.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed all sports, passing on his love for basketball and tennis to his daughters, but golf was his favorite. He would not miss the opportunity to watch a science fiction or action film, even the bad ones. He was a voracious studier of history, but he also made sure to read the newspapers, absorbing world events. As a result, he was unbeatable in Trivial Pursuit. He also loved the simple life; he was happy to have a home cooked meal and a cocktail with loved ones.

Robert is survived by his wife, Pamela; their daughters, Gena (Jason) and Angela; their granddaughter, Josephine; his sisters-in-law, Patricia, Carolyn and Colleen (Marvin); and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the National Park Foundation, which supports the many parks that he found simply breathtaking.

A celebration of Robert’s life will take place on November 11, 2023, from 1 – 5 pm at the Spanish Oaks Clubhouse, 2201 Spanish Oaks Drive, Las Vegas, NV.
