Rita McGahey

Rita Marie (Wittig) McGahey was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away peacefully October 1, 2021 at age 87. Rita was born April 24, 1934 in Mondovi, WI to Clara and Thomas Wittig.

She attended Viterbo University and graduated in 1958 with a degree in medical technology. After graduating, she moved to Las Vegas to work at the newly opened Sunrise Hospital. There she met her future husband, Kevin, and together they had 5 children; Tommy McGahey (Nancy), Chris McGahey (Monica), Kelly Chavez (Frank), Shannon McGahey (Ram), and Brian McGahey (Maria); 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband B. Kevin McGahey; sisters, Beverly Wittig and Audrey Prissel and her brother, Daniel Wittig and infant twins MaryAnn and Michael. She is survived by sisters, Virgene O'Brien and Judy Welch, and brothers, Giles Wittig and Lynn Wittig. Rita was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wed. Nov. 10, at St. Viator Parish.
