Rita Antonia Ghisu

Rita Antonia Ghisu, age 91, peacefully passed into Eternal Life on Sunday, October 6, 2024 in Las Vegas. She was born in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy on July 19, 1933 to Julia Esu Ghisu and Luigi Ghisu. Rita grew up and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy a Roman Catholic boarding school for girls. After graduation she was a foreign exchange student at Windsor, Canada. Rita then moved to New York City where she worked as a skin care and makeup artist for Elizabeth Arden in Manhattan. Her last move was to Las Vegas in the 1970's to be near her brother, Aldo. Caesar's Palace opened their spa under her direction and she continued her talents there. Rita was fervent in her Catholic faith and an inspiration to many. Over the years she participated in parish life through the Choir, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Bible Studies and Prayer Groups including the Medjugorje Prayer Group. Rita was a friend and volunteer of the Carmelites of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. She was a professed Passionist and spent time with the Passionist Nuns Monastery in Erlanger, Kentucky. Rita was known for her elegance and beauty inside and out as well as her delicious Italian meals. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brother, and many dear friends. Rita will be missed by her loving nieces Julia and Cassia; great nieces Gabriella (Bob) and Celina (Hector); great-great-nephew Elio; sister-in-law Sheila; as well as numerous acquaintances and friends. Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet will be at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church 4490 Mountain Vista Street Las Vegas, NV 8912. Following the services there will be a Committal Service at 1:00 PM at Palm Eastern Cemetery 7600 South Eastern Avenue Las Vegas, NV 8123. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church 4490 Mountain Vista Street Las Vegas, NV 89121 or EWTN 5817 Old Leeds Road Irondale, Alabama 35210.
