Richard Lee Waters, born on May 29, 1952 in Cedar City, UT passed away peacefully on February 23, 2022 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles while surrounded in love by his wife Beverley and daughters, Mallory, Kara, Erin, and Erin’s husband Flavio.
Richard moved to Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 3 with his family. He went on to graduate from Western High School in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1970. He then pursued a degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics/Accounting.
Rich began his career as an agent in gaming with the Nevada State Gaming Control Board and then went on to pursue a long and expansive career in resort/casino gaming that encompassed Executive Vice President positions in Nevada, Louisiana, and lastly, the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Rich possessed a unique talent for “numbers” and was a talented mathematician, for which he was highly regarded in the industry along with many other recognitions for his many contributions.
Rich was blessed with a beautiful and loving family. He and Beverley met through mutual friends and later married in 1981. Theirs was a true love story spanning 40 years. Rich was incredibly family oriented and selfless, and enjoyed bringing the family together. He instilled in them the importance of unity, strength, kindness, humility and accountability. He participated with them on school projects, attended their school, ballet, orchestra, and vocal performances, and frequently changed his business travel arrangements to accommodate their schedules. He was a loving and devoted “Pop Pop” to his granddaughter Ava. They had a very beautiful and special bond. Above all, he made us all better people through his patience and acceptance of everyone.
Rich was an accomplished golfer. He loved the game. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mixing with nature, and traveling with his family.
Rich is survived by his wife Beverley, daughters Mallory Waters McInerney (Ryan), Erin Waters-Orsini (Flavio) and Kara Waters; Granddaughter, Ava McInerney, Sisters Lola Waters Bair, Ann Waters Briggs (Ron); Sister-in-law Janice Bott, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Velva and Lee Waters, brother Kelly Waters and brother-in-law Cubby Bair, mother-in-law Elda Bott and father-in-law Ronald Bott.
