He was a young newspaper delivery boy in central California when he learned of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Immediately upon high school graduation, he joined the Army Air Corps, which led to his becoming a double veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He retired from the Army Reserve in 1979 as a lieutenant colonel.
Richard was a UCLA graduate and worked at Atlantic Richfield Oil Company for 30 years. He had the distinction of marrying two Barbaras. Barbara L is the mother of his four children, and Barbara G was his devoted wife in the second half of his life. He was a lifelong tennis player and loved his dogs, reading, and poker.
He is survived by his children: Martin Teague (Jane), Debra Peterson (Mike), Stephen Teague (Linda), and Diana Beck (Maril); 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and stepfamily.
Visitation will be 9 - 12 am, Friday, January 12, 2024 at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 N Main St., Las Vegas, with burial at Southern Nevada Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
