Nema Frances Rickwartz, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and teacher, passed away Jan. 17, 2013. She was born Oct. 15, 1926, to Ennis and Emma Mae Ross, Oct. 15, 1926, and was a resident of Las Vegas since 1952. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lonnie and Lynn Ross; and her sister, Novella Dewhurst. In 1944, she earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, Texas, and her master of science degree from Texas Tech in 1951. She married Conrad Rickwartz in Lubbock, Texas, June 4, 1952 and moved to Las Vegas. She is survived by her husband, of 60 years, Conrad; son, Bill (Gwen) Rickwartz; daughters, Regina (Sam) Ballard and Joyce (Mike) Ulmer; and four grandchildren, Drea and Leah Ballard and Michael and Elizabeth Rickwartz. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89107. Burial will be at noon Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. In memory of Frances Rickwartz, donations may be made to the JMJ Tuition Assistance Committee, in care of Fr. John B. McShane, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89104.
