Michael N. Tanner passed away on April 21, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was born in 1927 in Fullerton, California. Immediately after graduating from Lodi High School, California, Mike joined the US Navy near the end of World War II. A Nevada resident since 1949, he attended UNR until he was recalled to active duty in the Korean War. Upon his return, Mike went to work for Nevada Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 35 years in 1991. Mike loved riding his motorcycles with his sons and many friends all over Nevada, California, and Arizona. Before his illness, he was involved in organizing and coordinating Motorcycle Races. He was part of the group that staged the first Enduro in southern Nevada. Mike is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter Candace Giles (Michael) of California; sons Michael V. (Iliana), Christopher (Denise), Nicholas, Patrick, all of Las Vegas, and Dennis (Pamela) of Reno, Nevada; granddaughters Tera Antillon (Steven) and Taylor; grandsons Michael P., Zachary and C.J.; and great-granddaughter Mia Antillon, the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings Carolyn Beaupre of Virginia City, Nevada and Larry (Angel) of Carson City, Nevada. Services will be held on Friday, May 11 at 10:00 am at the Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the charity of your choice.
