Megan Lynn Rusley was known by everyone she knew as a friendly, energetic, and empathic young woman. Her compassionate nature would always shine through, revealing her charm, warmth, and conscientious demeanor. She was warmhearted and gentle and could always bring out the best in all of those around her.
Megan was born on November 24, 2004 at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada to Eric and Jennifer Rusley. She was raised in Las Vegas with her older brother, Dylan, younger sister, Sara, and older sister, Lindsay. Megan was imaginative and clever, and regardless of whether her peers were older or younger, or came from different backgrounds, Megan could easily relate to other kids. She was an active child who took part in swimming, basketball, and soccer, and was also a Girl Scout. In her spare time she liked drawing and painting, listening to music, being with friends, hiking, and reading. She also loved taking vacations to Lake Tahoe, San Diego and Iowa.
Megan was a bright student, earning a Certificate of Recognition for Academic Excellence at Doral Middle School. In high school, teachers and classmates knew Megan as an excellent listener. She placed a high value on learning, keeping excellent grades throughout the 9th grade.
Megan had a natural flair for cheering on and applauding just about everyone. She was constantly offering her support and encouragement to fellow members of the groups and activities in which she participated, like the swimming team she was on during freshman year.
Always considered a good friend, Megan sought to understand the things that others enjoyed. Megan’s friends found her easy to know and get along with because of her talent for being socially at ease, adept at conversation, and always amiable in her dealings with others. Throughout her life she had many friends. While growing up, her best friends were Vivian and Mya.
Megan passed away on July 20, 2020 at University Medical Center after her life was taken too early after she was hit by a car. She is survived by her parents, Jennifer and Eric; her brother, Dylan; and her sisters, Sara and Lindsay. Services were held at Palm Southwest Mortuary in Las Vegas. Megan was laid to rest at Palm Valley View Cemetery, also in Las Vegas.
Throughout her life, Megan was a gregarious and enthusiastic person. She was generous in sharing her personal attributes, giving, and helping those she knew and loved. She was imaginative, original, tender hearted, and easy to get along with. Megan leaves behind her a legacy of friendships and cherished memories. Everyone whose lives she touched will dearly remember Megan Lynn Rusley.
