Mary Louise Gallegos

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Louise Gallegos announces her untimely passing on Saturday October 27, 2018.

Mary was born in Columbus Utah, daughter to Endelicia and Jim Giron. Mary was the eldest of three, followed by Patsy Giron, and James Giron.

The family relocated to El Rancho New Mexico. Mary graduated from Pojoaque High School as class valedictorian. She kept in contact with her fellow classmates and enjoyed 81 years of friendship with Angie, Lindi, Viola and many others.

Mary met the love of her life Don, and celebrated over 56 years of marriage! They had six children, seven grand children and six great grand children. Children in order of birth: Janie Gallegos (deceased), Kathy Medina, Tim Gallegos (Marcia Gallegos), Ronnie Gallegos (Melinda Gallegos), Gina Gallegos Karler (Brian Karler), and Anthony Dean Gallegos (Gina Gallegos). Grandchildren: Michelle Medina, Matthew Medina, Donny Gallegos, Nicole Gallegos, Joshua Gallegos, Micaela Gallegos, Kristelle Parras (deceased). Great Grand Children: Lorenzo Chavez, Cerilyn Arteaga, Jesse Arteaga, Jasmine Marquez, and Isaiah Marquez, and Anikka Gallegos.

Mary and Don started their lives together in California. Mary worked as a statistician for Rockwell International, now Boeing. They later moved back to New Mexico to be closer to family and their aging parents. Mary was not happy about this move so she went on a three-week vacation to Hawaii to visit her cousins Vangie and Bill and Davy Cain and her godson Michael Cain. This trip would be the beginning of many travels that Mary and Don would take together.

Throughout their married days, Mary and Don both enjoyed cruises and traveled to many foreign countries. They enjoyed many parts of Mexico and would go yearly to their timeshare. Some of the highlights they mentioned were travels to Alaska and to Mt. Rushmore. When Don’s unexpected death happened, they had a trip scheduled and paid to go to Branson MO.

Mary was very creative with her crafts and had many projects from sewing clothing to decorating dollhouses to handmade clay figurines. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving dinner the most!

Mary was a devout Catholic and felt it was important for her children to go to parochial school. She attended mass every weekend at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church until recently when she was unsure of her balance and was afraid she would fall.

A memorial service and rosary will be held at Palm Mortuary Wednesday November 7, 2018 at 6:00 PM. The funeral and mass will be held November 8, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 9:30 a.m.
