Mary Elizabeth McClarren Leavitt

Mary Elizabeth McClarren Leavitt, known as Betty, passed away July 9, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born July 21, 1919 in San Bernardino, California. She is survived by her son, William Job Leavitt, Jr. and his wife Valerie Claire Leavitt. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Claire, Christopher, Holly, and Malinda, and ten great-grandchildren.Betty spent most of her growing up years in Dos Palos, California. She met William Job Leavitt, Sr. during World War II. Soon after their meeting William left for Harvard University. Upon his graduation from Harvard Business School, Bill and Betty were married August 10, 1942. Following their marriage they were stationed at various locations for the Air Force prior to coming to Las Vegas in 1955 for Bill to serve as Wing Comptroller at Nellis Air Force Base. Upon Bill’s retirement from the Air Force, Bill and Betty went into the real estate business together in Las Vegas. After Bill’s death in 1968, Betty continued in real estate until her retirement. Services will be held at the LDS Gateway and Wyoming Chapel, 4040 East Wyoming at Gateway on Saturday, July 21st at 11AM. Visitation on Friday, July 20th from 5PM-7PM at Palm Mortuary, 1325 North Main Street. Visitation again on Saturday, July 21st at 10AM prior to the service at 11AM. Interment will follow at Palm Mortuary and Mausoleum at 1325 Main Street. Arrangements under the direction of Palm South Jones Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
