Marilyn Joyce Green "Sam", age 75, was a 20-year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. She passed away on September 10, 2016, peacefully at home. She was born on September 28, 1940, in Fillmore, California to Willis and Ruby Myers. She met the love of her life, Don Green, at the age of 21. They were married in Alton, Illinois.
She is now reunited with her husband, Don; parents, Willis and Ruby Myers; and brothers Arnold and Paul. Don and Sam had been married 49 years, when Don passed away.
Sam attended Central Bible Institute College, in Springfield, Missouri. She majored in music, and was chosen as a member of the C.M. Ward, Revival Time Choir. She graduated in 1960. Sam was the Manager of the Inn of Silver Lakes, Green Tree Inn, and Holiday Inn, in Victorville, California.
In 1994, Don and Sam moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She began working at the "Luxor", and then went to "Bellagio" in 1998, for the Grand Opening. Sam continued to work there through the rest of her working career.
Sam loved being a Grandmother and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed getting Manicures and Pedicures with her Granddaughter, Casey. She loved her Grandsons, Zack and Garrett's races, and taking them all to Disneyland. She was a really a cool Grandmother and, her grandchildren loved her very much.
She had a Gift of Music. At the Family Reunions, Sam, and her two sisters, Kathleen and Phyllis would sing together and do beautiful harmony. It was so cool to hear them sing together. That was her softer side. “SHE WAS QUITE THE LADY". Sam also enjoyed camping, dirt bike riding, driving our dune buggy and exploring.
She always had a plan to squeeze out as many activities that she could in the time we had, whether it was camping for a weekend or a week at Yosemite…SHE always had a plan. That is why she was called the "CAMP COORDINATOR". She even had hat made with "Camp Coordinator" put on it. She acted like she didn't like it, but, we really think she did. She was the "Lady in Charge", and we all knew it.
Mom and Dad were married on Friday the 13th of October, 1961. So we guess they weren't superstitious, because they were married 49 years, until dad passed away in 2010. If that's not commitment, we don't know what is.
Through "Thick and Thin", they loved each until death.
Our Mom is probably up there right now, telling Dad what to do, and, just how much she missed him.
Mom and Dad gave my brother, Rick and I, an unbelievable life, not just the places, and the traveling, but all the memories they created for us, which will remain in our hearts forever.
We were "Truly Blessed".
