Margaret Elizabeth Deibert

February 12, 1966 - June 2, 2022

Funeral services for Margaret Deibert, 56, of Herreid will be at 10:30 AM Friday, June 10, 2022, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Herreid. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 6 PM Thursday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the church. Margaret passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at her home.

Margaret Elizabeth Deibert was the daughter of Steve and Liz (Doole) Johonnot, Born in Paterson, NJ on February 12th 1966. She resided in Oak Ridge, NJ until 1978 when the family relocated to Las Vegas, NV. At three years old she started dancing, and continued throughout her teenage years. She was an excellent student, and graduated from Bonanza High School, Las Vegas with High Honors in 1984. During and after highschool she worked for a tax company and found her love of taxes.

She became an Enrolled Agent and started her own, very successful, family run tax business in Las Vegas over 25 years ago. She will be missed very much by her many clients, some families have been seeing her for three generations. She met her husband of 23 years, Steven, (who at the time worked in the mines and lived in Beatty, NV) through an introduction by a tax client. They were married May 8th of 1999, in Las Vegas and moved to Beatty, NV. Sometime later they relocated to Herreid, SD, then later to Las Vegas, and then back to Herried, SD in 2006. She traveled often between Las Vegas and Herreid and had clients in both locations but also scattered throughout the country.

She loved the small-town life and the friends she made there, while at the same time loved her time in Las Vegas with family, friends and clients. Margaret was a joyful person who loved music and continued throughout her life to help people, both personally and professionally. She was a strong, determined, independent person.

She was the guiding force and mentor to Annette who then founded the non profit, Pawsitive Difference of Las Vegas, NV a pet rescue. She was the treasurer for the Peace Lutheran Church of Herreid, SD, as well as treasurer for the Herreid Luther League. She was also the ladies aide for the Lutheran Church. She had a passion for all things “OZ” and had an extensive Wizard of Oz collection (Always Movie, Never Book). Anyone who knew her would immediately think of her when seeing or hearing anything OZ related.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 23 years, Steven Deibert of Herried; her mother, Elizabeth Babock of Las Vegas, and her step father John Babcock of Las Vegas; her siblings, Jerry (Cheryl) Johonnot of Las Vegas, Thomas Johonnot of Las Vegas, Connie Gent (Phil) of Olympia, WA, and Christina Babcock of Las Vegas; her children, Nicholas Deibert of Herreid, Allyson Coury (Justin) of Dickinson, ND, Susan Coury (Kris) of Las Vegas, Damion (Danielle) Deibert of Bismarck, ND, and Devon (Adrien) Deibert of Elko Area, NV; her grandchildren, Dylan Deibert of Bismarck, ND, Danika Deibert of Bismarck, ND, Dru Deibert of Bismarck, ND, Kye Lone of Dickinson, ND, Judson Deibert of Elko Area, NV, Kody Barger of Elko Area, NV, and Keidan Barger of Elko Area, NV. She was preceded in death by her Father Steve Johonnot; Parents-in-law Alfred and Darlene Deibert, Grandmother Connie Savastano and her Step Son Daniel Deibert.

She has gone to be with our Lord and Savior somewhere over the Rainbow.
