Our hearts are heavy to share that Kay Brown Wood, 88, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022. Kay dearly loved the Lord and it is a comfort to know she is with Him, and also with her husband, Brent, who preceded her in death, August 29, 2021. It was a joyous reunion, for Kay has missed Brent tremendously these past four months. Just prior to Brent’s passing, he told Kay, “Honey, I don’t want to leave you, but if it’s okay, I’d like to go.” Kay’s response was, “I don’t want you to leave, but it’s okay if you do. I’ll be along shortly.”
Kay was born July 2, 1933, in Peoria, Illinois, to Luther and Viola Brown. She was also welcomed by her sister, Patricia Cleave. One of Kay’s many attributes was her singing, and it such was a blessing to hear her sing. And she loved singing in the choir with her dear friends in Las Vegas and Ely. Kay loved the Lord with all of her heart, and her heart became more full when she fell in love and married Brent in 1972, and got his three kids as well (Ann, Bart, and Jane). She was thrilled to become a Mom and we were thrilled because we got a wonderful second Mom.
After living in Las Vegas for many years, Brent and Kay moved to Lund, NV, in the early 90s. There they have made many wonderful friends who have become second family to them and to us. What a blessing they have been throughout the years! Kay was also an avid reader and an accomplished knitter, and many folks have been blessed by her beautiful knitted creations.
Kay is survived by her sister, Pat; nephew, Jimmie Miller; stepdaughters, Ann Wood Pedersen (Steve) and Jane Wood.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; and her husband praises her as well:”, Proverbs 31:28
Kay, you are loved and you are missed.
