John was a very caring and special person. He, along with his wife Lottie, brought joy and companionship to my mother in her later years. After my dad died, he built shelves for her and they both helped her move several times. I treasure them as kind and energetic people. The world has lost a real jewel.

Lottie and Family - The Hof Reunion Association sends its prayers, condolences and sympathy on the passing of our fellow Hofer John.  John will be missed by all who knew him in Hof, Germany, our HRA Reunions, and everyday life.  God Rest His Soul.

Lottie, Cheryl and I are so sorry about John.  He will be missed by our family as well as by everyone that John has ever met.  I truly enjoyed Johns company and the conversations that we shared.  He was a role model, leader and a patriot .  He always asked about our children, Josh and Miranda, and was sincerely interested in their lives, activities and careers.  He will be missed by many of us who knew him and he truly blessed us all by knowing him.  Our prayers go out to you and John

John was a brother in two ways. He was a brother in Christ and a fellow Vietnam veteran. It has been a pleasure knowing him. He will be missed.

John was a true friend and honored member of the Special Military Active-Retired Travel Club (S*M*A*R*T) and the Florida Buccaneer and Nomad chapters. We will truly miss his generous smile and always helpful attitude. Our hearts go out to Lottie and his entire family.

Uncle John was always one of my favorite relatives.  He was a lot of fun and told such great  stories about the experiences he and Aunt Lottie had over the years!  He became the patriarch of our families.  He will be missed so much.

The family is in my prayers. Great Uncle John was always so sweet to my brother and me as young kids. He had a calm, loving presence that won't be forgotten. So very sorry.

Uncle John meant so very much to me and my family.  He was a role model for my husband.   The support I received when I first moved to Columbus  was greatly appreciated.  Aunt Lottie, you and Linda and her family are in my prayers.

I am sorry for your loss.  John was a great, wise, loving, Christian man.  I am glad I got to know him the last few years.

We are so sorry for your loss.  Don has such good memories of his many trips with Charles to visit Uncle John & Aunt Lottie when he was younger.  One trip to the Gulf, they really enjoyed fishing for King Mackerel in Uncle John's boat.  We both appreciated John's phone calls & visit when Don had his heart surgery.  Katie has fond memories of our trip to Schmidt's Restaurant in German Village and the bonfire in Flushing.  He will be missed.

John's loss will be felt dearly by so many he has influenced. He was so kind, fun, and just such a nice guy. We have so many fond memories of traveling with John and Lottie throughout the US. We enjoyed seeing his talent in his wood working project and treasure the couple of very special pieces we have.  He will always be part of our travel memories. Getting a phone call from John when we travelled was always a highlight of a day. We will miss a special friend. Our thoughts are with Lottie.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have great memories of Uncle John.  One memory is my first attempt at water skiing on his boat in Florida. I remember like it was yesterday. I will remember him around a camp fire at Bark Camp, but my most precious memory is how he drove his motor home from Florida to Ohio numerous times when my father was ill. He brought Aunt Lottie to see her brother who was ill.  He was family oriented. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Thanks Uncle John for your service to our country. You will forever live in my heart.  My prayers are with Aunt Lottie, Linda and Jim.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Uncle John dedicated his life to his family, his God and his country. I am a better man for having him in my life and I will never forget his easy smile and gentle spirit. I will miss him daily. All of my love to you aunt Lottie, Linda and Jim.
