John was an avid reader, life-long student, Judo black belt instructor, dedicated family man and friend. As a veteran he received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy.
John retired from the General Motors Corp.in Lansing, Michigan as a journeyman electrician. Upon moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, he worked for and retired from the Clark County School System.
John is preceded in death by his sister Kathy Boswell; mother Beulah Chapman; father Earl Williams; stepfather Eugene Chapman; second wife Betty Williams; grandson Aldric McKinstry, Jr.; third wife Ora L. Johnson-Williams.
John is survived by his children Cynthia (Nicolas) Williams Castillo of Chicago, IL; Brenda Pearson McKinstry of Las Vegas, NV; Constance Pearson-LaCapra of Las Vegas, NV; Calvin (Shelby) Williams of Lansing, MI; stepdaughters Lori Littlejohn, Joyce (Gaylord) Lightfoot-Brooks and Alicia (Tim) McGee-Doss all of Lansing, MI; grandchildren Oshanti, Justin, Jarrett, Gary, Misha, Shayla, Calvin Jr., Demtriess, Brianna, Elysa, Shianne, Jacob and Yesika; great-grandchildren Eleisha, Theo, Jayliana, Laityn, Zachariah, Akira, Elias, and Dermayores; stepmother Velma Chapman of Chicago, IL; ex-wife Gwendolyn H. Williams of Chicago, IL; aunt Gloria Daniels of Apple Valley, CA; aunt Winona Daniels of Lansing, MI; student and friend Don Wilson of Lansing, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
