John was born on September 30, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to Chet and Marge Hastings. He was the youngest of 5 children. He married Kim Hastings on November 18, 1977 in Pontiac, Michigan. In his professional career, John worked for Eastern Airlines for 19 years, worked in workers compensation representing injured workers, then as Safety Manager for Bombard Electric until retirement. He was a veteran in the U. S. Navy for 4 years.
John is survived in death by his wife of 46 years, Kim, son Scott and Angela, daughter Jenny and Randy. John has 3 beautiful grandchildren, Ryann, Peyton and Jackson. He is also survived by an older brother, Chet Hastings of Memphis, Tennessee.
John requested no services at death and a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. The family will notify all friends and family of date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association. So much research is still needed.
