John Henry English

John was born on April 13, 1962 in Austin, Texas to Lillian Jane English and Henry Howard English. John's father, a Lt Col and airforce pilot, was John's mentor in aviation and at the age of 16 he earned his Private Pilot License in Honolulu, Hawaii. After graduating from Mililani High School, he went on to study aviation at Park's college of Saint Louis University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, Aircraft Maintenance Management.

After working as a pilot and an A&P mechanic with different companies in the US, he moved to American Samoa and flew for Samoa Air in 1992. While in Samoa, he met his wife, Ane - they went on to have 3 daughters, Audrey, DeAnna, and Jamie. In 1997, they moved to Seattle, WA, and the following year, he was hired by Continental Airlines. He flew as a 747 Flight Engineer, 777 FO, a 727 FO, and a 737 Captain for the past 26-plus years with Continental and now United Airlines.

John has been on medical leave since he was diagnosed with cancer at the end of 2020. He spent the last four years making precious memories with his wife and children, and enjoying his hobbies such as woodworking, riding his Harley motorcycle, flying the Citabria, Cessna, and glider with his friends.

John was predeceased by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Ane English, and daughters, Audrey English, DeAnna English, Jamie English, and his sisters Andra Oglesby and Dayna English.

A visitation for John will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113. A reception will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113.
