Jin Lankford was born in Pusan, South Korea, on December 17th, 1960. The youngest child of four, she had an adventurous spirit and decided to make the move to America at the age of 26. She settled in Las Vegas and worked in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. People were drawn to her smile and her laugh, and her words of encouragement and support, and over the years she made friends with people all over the Valley. She loved preaching God's word, and had an unshakeable faith. With this faith and in God's grace, Jin lovingly raised her only daughter, Amabell Lankford.
Jin was a beloved mother not only to her daughter, but also to everyone around her. She was often known as "Mama" or "Mama Jin" due to her ability to embrace those struggling with life, giving them love and support when they needed it most. She was a confidant who would listen, encourage, and spread the love of Jesus Christ to those around her.
At home, Jin loved to bake and host dinners for her friends and family. While baking her cakes and muffins, she would listen to French and Italian music, humming along to the melodies she had listened to for years. She loved opera, tenors, classical, and also folk music from around the world. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays. She would decorate the house according to the seasons, and would prepare feasts for her friends and family to enjoy. Her kimchi was legendary. It made her happy to share what she had, and she loved to give to those around her, as God had blessed her. She also loved watching international films and historical romance movies with her daughter, and movie nights were tradition just for the two of them.
Jin passed away on August 12th, 2021. She is survived by her two brothers in Korea, and her only daughter here in America. A beloved and amazing woman, she will live on with the Lord, and in our hearts forever.
