He was born September 12, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Julian and Eva Wallace.
Jim spent his formative years in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and was part of the Scottsbluff high school 1955 state championship basketball team.
Jim served 3 years in the United States Navy as an Airman flying missions between Hawaii and Alaska.
He married Linda McConnell of Torrington, Wyoming in Torrington on September 3, 1961.
After several moves between Kansas City, Denver and Scottsbluff Jim settled in Fremont, Nebraska to raise his family and resided there from 1964 to 2004. Jim retired from Fremont National Bank in 1998 and relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2004.
Jim was a big part of the Fremont community and heavily involved in coaching youth sports. He coached the “Cougars” high school girls travel softball team for over 20 years. He coached Trinity Lutheran’s girls basketball for over 10 years. He was also the voice of Fremont sports doing play by play and color analysis for KHUB and a morning sports segment for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda; sons, Eric or San Antonio, Texas, Chad of Navarre, Florida and Troy (Marci Crone) of Omaha; and sister, Joyah French of Roseville, California; 6 grandchildren Kristin, Brooke, Landon, Cody, Sarah and James; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a wonderful father, husband, coach, mentor, friend and touched many lives. He will be missed.
A celebration of life/memorial will be held in Fremont, Nebraska and is yet to be determined and will be announced separately.
