Jaci Hopper, age 62, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2014, after a 30 year, courageous, battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Jaci was born September 2, 1952 in San Diego, CA and moved to Las Vegas in 1978. She obtained her Masters Degree in Health Physics from San Diego State University with honors. With her degree in Health Physics she was hired in Las Vegas by Reynolds Electric and Engineering Company to manage the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) radiation monitoring exposure program for the off-site general population. She also preformed the analysis of radiation exposures for the Three Mile Island Incident. She moved to Las Vegas in 1978 to accept the management position. While at EPA she met and married her husband, Richard Hopper, in 1979. Jaci was very religious and worked tirelessly for the Community Lutheran Church until her disease prevented her from doing so. She was a beautiful loving person with such a dynamic personality that will be missed by whomever she touched. She was a totally dedicated and loving wife (She Was the Heartbeat in Every Facet of His Life) and although disabled, Jaci worked with Richard tirelessly on his science career. Jaci is survived by her husband, Richard Hopper; her mother, Clarabelle James; five siblings; and three wonderful children, Scott Hopper of Pahrump; Sue Ann Child of Las Vegas; and Traci Hopper of Henderson. She is also survived by nine beautiful grandchildren. Services will be held at Palm Mortuary at 7400 West Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89129, on October 27, 2014. Funeral Services will start at 3:00 pm for family and friends with a reception to follow.
