Irma “Bea” Bernice Levinson passed away from complications of a stroke on August 17, 2015 in San Diego, California. Bea will be laid to rest alongside her husband UNLV Professor Charles Levinson (z’’l 1989) and is survived by daughters Ann Jaffe (Richard), Leah Krecu (Milijan), Rebecca Gaither and 7 grandchildren who made her very proud. Born in 1933 in New York City to parents Boris and Anna Shalman she grew up in Monticello, NY and attended Elmira College. Moving to Las Vegas in 1970 with her family, she began her career in the Nevada State Unemployment Service Department. She loved being an investigator and proudly retired as an Administrative Law Judge. She was active in the ERA movement, engaged with the LWV, and supported many political candidates while being an active volunteer with the Jewish Family Services. Passionate, intelligent, and opinionated, Bea was known to be both stubborn and demanding. All this empowered her to make a positive impact in her work. Bea instilled strong values in her family to make a difference in the world. A funeral service is planned at King David Memorial Chapel at 11:00 on August 19th, 2015, 2697 E Eldorado Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89120 . 702-464-8570. Burail will follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery.
