Howard and Susan were good friends with my parents Ben and Marilyn Mehr since the 80s.  When I was graduating college in 1990, I really wanted to work at Laventhal and Horwath and for reasons that were yet unknown to me, he helped me out by making sure I did not even get an interview.  When I moved to Vegas in 93, I had the good fortune of being Howard's assistant on what was undoubtedly the best audit gig ever... The Chicken Ranch Brothel in Pahrump!  Watching Howard apply his auditing expertise to this legit, yet uncommon business was magical.  After a drive on a winding two lane road over the mountain in his Corvette, we would interview the ladies about internal controls then have an amazing breakfast in the kitchen with them.  His attention to detail and his knowledge of auditing was second to none, and I am grateful for all he taught me.

Rest in peace Howard, there's no speed limit now!

I was saddened to learn of Howard’s passing and my sincere condolences to
Susan and his entire family. Howard and I became partners in a national
Accounting firm in 1979 and over the years remained in touch. I respected his intellect and  enjoyed his fine wit. He was a fine professional and will be missed.

I sent Howard an email  the night before and when I didn't get a response the following morning , I called his house in the afternoon and his wife answered and told me had died. Words cannot describe the  loss of my  dear colleague and friend. He was very helpful in my auditing practice as he gladly helped me to research some unusual auditing issues and he had a good laugh at my non Brooklyn accent.

Howard Levy and I were partners in a national CPA firm. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with him for over 30 years. I had great respect for Howard's intellect and character, and his wit and sense of humor. He would easily engage in conversation. I knew of his love for his wife and family. I will miss him.   

I am sorry to hear of Howard's passing.  I had the privilege of serving on the NYSSCPA Auditing Standards Committee with Howard for many years.  I will surely miss him at our monthly meetings.  Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Howard was a bit of a mentor to me, and a role model in his very comprehensive knowledge of audit and accounting. His presence at our NYSSCPA audit standards committee was impressive.

He shall be missed.

We are so saddened by the loss of our beloved cousin, Howard. We grew up together and share many fond memories including vacations and family celebrations.

He's such an important part of or lives.  His loss leaves an empty places in our 💕 💞 ♥️ 

I feel blessed to have known Howard as part of the PBTK family here in Las Vegas, since 2004. He will be missed, but live on in our memories. He was a strong advocate of ALS research, based on the times he and I visited together. A donation of $100 was made earlier today to the ALS Association in his memory. Blessings to Susan and the entire Levy family.

From the first time I met Howard some 44 years ago, I knew we would be good friends.  He was always around to help if needed and would bring joy to all that knew him.  He always had something to add, no matter what the conversation was about.  Talking about cars,  50’s and 60’s music and his years in New York, especially his involvement in High School and his family were always a topic of interest. His business acumen was beyond reproach and his work ethic top notch.  His work in the accounting field help define the business ethics for along time to come.  I will miss his laugh that was always present in every conversation.  Rest in peace my friend I will miss you

From 1979 forward Howard and Susan have been a part of our lives. We shared all of the life cycle events throughout the years. Howard’s love extended to our entire family. Always interested in what was happening to everyone, warm and full  of ideas  and opinions. Somewhere Howard  is dancing to his beloved 50’s music. He will be missed by all. 

What an amazing person and what a remarkable life! Our family will not be the same without Grandpa. Rest in Peace! I hope they have Nathan’s everywhere in Heaven for you.

Dan and I had so many good times with Howard and Susan: our lobster dinners at the Palm, Passover and St. Patrick's Day at their home, Christmas/Hanukkah at our home. We will miss those good times but remember them fondly. We mourned with them when they lost their beloved Bentley and celebrated with them when they adopted Buster. 

I first met Howard when I joined PBTK as a very green audit staff.  One of my fondest memories of Howard was when he took time out of his busy schedule to sit with me at my cubicle and teach me how create a cash flows worksheet.  He was a great mentor and over the next 20+ years we became friends.   He will be missed.

Howard Levy was a friend, a brilliant  writer and technical  expert.  As a distinguished member of the CPA Journal Editorial Advisory Board and  Editor of our monthly Auditing Standards Column, Howard was a passionate, articulate voice of the profession. I will miss his wit, sarcasm and critical insights.

I spoke with Howard recently and mentioned that I would meet with him in Las Vegas in February. 
Good by my friend and thank you for all of your insight, guidance and advice. I will miss you.

 I knew Howard since 1967 when I worked with him in the same Accounting firm ( and for forty three years thereafter) . In 1990 he started a collaboration with  me which  was  multifaceted iincluding development of accounting and auditing manuals and educational courses. These support  materials helped many independent firms prosper for the next 30 years. He was an exceptionally talented professional who was dedicated to achieving high standards.   He always was able to quickly identify the source of a problem . He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a dear friend to many. He will be missed.
