Harry E. Miller, 92, of Las Vegas, passed away Dec. 23, 2014. He was born in Olney, Illinois on November 1, 1922. Harry was the only child of Orpha Miller and Lillian Huckleberry, raised in Indianapolis, and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. At 20 years old Harry Miller joined United States Navy in 1942. He was a Radioman Second Class on PT Boat 487 in the Philippines, and honorably discharged in 1946. Sgt. Harry Miller was the last surviving Officer of his 1951 class at IMPD (Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department). Throughout his career, he was a Motorcycle Officer serving in the Traffic Division, participated in honor escort details, a foot patrol officer, a detective in the Fugitive Department as well as the Fraud Detail. Harry also was a member of the Murat Police Motorcycle Club where they performed motorcycle drills for many events. Although he carried a weapon for those 38 years, he never had to use it, and retired in 1989 as a Desk Sergeant. Harry moved to Las Vegas four years ago along with his collection of classic Mustangs; the last love of his life. Harry was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Huckleberry-Hedges. He is survived by his son, Jerald Miller (Karen); daughter, Teri Renee’ Brunnmeier (Michael); three grandchildren: Misty Ryan (Rob), Bayley Brunnmeier and Michael Miller.
