On October 1, 2024, at the age of 91, Frank Vincent Silvaggio was joyfully reunited in heaven with the love of his life, his sweet Dolly, Rose Silvaggio. He passed peacefully from this world with the love of his family at his side in San Diego, California.
Frank was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 21, 1932, to Giuseppe (Joseph) and Mary Jean (Milazzo) Silvaggio.
Frank was known for his strong work ethic and in his younger years he did many humble jobs such as selling newspapers, shining shoes, setting bowling pins at the bowling alley, and making corsages. As time went on, he learned skills that would propel him into the successful business he and his brothers had, roofing, bricklaying and masonry work.
It was at a local club in Cleveland that Frank met his bride-to-be, Rose, and as his sister Violet put it, “They were never separated after that.” They were married April 26, 1958, and enjoyed 58 years together before Rose’s passing in 2017.
Frank, along with his brothers Albert (Al) and Joseph (Tony), formed successful construction companies in various states including Texas and Nevada. Once they settled in Las Vegas, they were instrumental in developing large apartment buildings in the Las Vegas Valley which became home to much of the hotel and casino workers. Many of these apartment buildings are still there today. The brothers also owned a supper club near the old McCarran Airport called The Tropics and later Frank purchased and then later sold The Huntridge Theater on Charleston Blvd.
Frank worked hard to provide for his family, he made sure his children attended Catholic School and were involved in local activities, and he often sponsored his boys’ sports teams. Frank loved to go boating and fishing with his sons, brothers and his father-in-law, Frank. Together, he and Rose truly enjoyed life, family gatherings, trips to Hawaii and golfing. They made their homes in Palm Springs and Coronado, CA as well as Las Vegas, NV.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father, Giuseppe and Mary Silvaggio; his brothers Albert, Joseph (Tony), and Perry Silvaggio, his sister Rose Mondock; and his wife Rose Silvaggio He is survived by his children, Frankie (Ping), Dino, Daniel, Kim (Larry Bonneville) and David (Laurie); his six grandchildren, Danielle, Anthony, Stephanie, David, Dominic and Olivia; his sister, Violet Pizzoferrato (Joseph, dec.)
